An Application of Natural Language Processing for Triangulation of Cognitive Load Assessments in Third Level Education

Work has been done to measure Mental Workload based on applications mainly related to ergonomics, human factors, and Machine Learning. The influence of Machine Learning is a reflection of an increased use of new technologies applied to areas conventionally dominated by theoretical approaches. However, collaboration between MWL and Natural Language Processing techniques seems to happen rarely. In this sense, the objective of this research is to make use of Natural Languages Processing techniques to contribute to the analysis of the relationship between Mental Workload subjective measures and Relative Frequency Ratios of keywords gathered during pre-tasks and post-tasks of MWL activities in third-level sessions under different topics and instructional designs. This research employs secondary, empirical and inductive methods to investigate Cognitive Load theory, instructional designs, Mental Workload foundations and measures and Natural Language Process Techniques. Then, NASA-TLX, Workload Profile and Relative Frequency Ratios are calculated. Finally, the relationship between NASA-TLX and Workload Profile and Relative Frequency Ratios is analysed using parametric and non-parametric statistical techniques. Results show that the relationship between Mental Workload and Relative Frequency Ratios of keywords, is only medium correlated, or not correlated at all. Furthermore, it has been found out that instructional designs based on the process of hearing and seeing, and the interaction between participants, can overcome other approaches such as those that make use of videos supported with images and text, or of a lecturer\u27s speech supported with slides

This paper analyzes the possibility of considering immigration and foreigners policy as part of the soft power of the country. To do this, we study the configuration of current immigration to the country considering the neighbor relations of Chile. The paper emphasizes looking at immigration policy with a strategic perspective in order to accentuate the processes of integration of the country in the southern cone and lower political tensions with neighboring countries in the northern sector. Finally, this paper calls for using the soft power of the country to improve Chile's perceptions abroad.Universidad de Santiago de Chil

Tone at the Top and the Communication of Corporate Values: Lost in Translation?

Many firms that were involved in large-scale corporate frauds had strong corporate codes of ethics and values statements. These firms were also subject to considerable social pressures to be mindful of their reputations; frauds are “negative reputational events.” Notably, the frauds not infrequently involved possible, or even outright, illegality. Why didn’t these strong forces—strong codes of ethics and firms’ clear interest in maintaining a good reputation, as well as the fear of legal liability—do more to prevent the frauds? It seems hard to imagine that serious misdeeds could occur if the top management was committed to preventing them. But top management, especially the CEOs, are sending messages declaring precisely such a commitment. Might they be sending, verbally or nonverbally, other, countermanding or dilutive, messages? Our aim here is to raise this issue and consider how it might be explored

    Holographic stability for non-qqˉq\bar{q} candidates

In the context of bottom-up AdS/QCD models, we discuss how the configurational entropy can describe heavy non-qqˉq\,\bar{q} states. Using the non-quadratic softwall model, introduced to describe non-linear Regge trajectories, we parametrize different multiquark and exotic meson structures to describe ZcZ_c, ψ\psi, and ZbZ_b states as non-qqˉq\,\bar{q} hadrons in terms of stability. We found that ZcZ_c is better described as a hybrid meson with one gluon tube, ψ\psi as hadrocharmonium, and ZbZ_b as hadronic molecule.Comment: 10 pages, 1 figure, 3 table
